Scheduling Changes …

Keith McBride on October 04, 2013 in Board Meetings

FEDC is listening.

Earlier this year, we received some feedback from a member of the community that our Board meetings are difficult to attend because they begin at 7:30 AM.   Hmmm … good point.

I would love to see members of our community in attendance and participating in our Board meetings.  In fact, our By-Laws state, “It is the intent of the Board to provide as much public access to Board meeting and meetings sponsored by the FEDC as possible.”

“As much as possible.”  That’s pretty strong language.

We cannot simply say that we want to communicate with our community about economic development.   Public engagement is a two-way street, for sure, but I believe it is in following our mission that we have to take the first steps and encourage our community to come along.

With that in mind, this year we have moved two of our normal Board meetings from the morning to the evening.   The first of these  will be on Wednesday, November 20, at 6:00 PM in the Large Community Room at the Freeport Community Center on Depot Street.   The second will be in June, 2014, and the location is still TBD.   An updated schedule of our Board meetings for this Fiscal Year is available here.

I look forward to seeing everyone there.
