Strategic Visions
Plans for Freeport’s Business Future
The Freeport Town Council encouraged the creation of the Freeport Economic Development Corporation (“FEDC”) and charged it with finding ways to diversify the commercial tax base to make the Town less dependent upon retail development. In order to accomplish this task, strategies were developed with the support and input of the local community.  One goal for 2006 for the Council is to “promote balanced economic development to strengthen the commercial tax base”.

Route 1 South
In this plan, the FEDC is assisting the Town in ensuring that the future development of the area between Exit 20 and the Yarmouth Town Line proceeds with thoughtful planning and coordination.  During its first year, the FEDC held a series of meetings with citizens to develop a strategic plan. The Vision Plan for Route One South is the culmination of this strategy.

Vision 2010
This plan reinforces key principles for the revitalization of Freeport’s Village Core resulting from public meetings and committee and consultant work done on this project. The primary principle of this Vision Plan is that the retail core of Freeport is the Village’s greatest strength. Reinvigorating and enhancing this asset will sustain Freeport's goal of being a true "Tourist Destination".
