New Developments

Freeport Village Station
A new $45 million shopping center is being developed in the heart of Freeport Village across Main Street from the L.L.Bean campus.  The center that will include retail, dining and entertainment options will be open and pedestrian-friendly.  A special feature will be more than 500 parking spaces.

Leon Gorman Park
A special gift from L.L.Bean to the Town of Freeport of  9 acres in the area of Bow and School Streets.  The Park includes a mile of trails, a skating pond, shelters and picnic tables.  “We imagine a “green retreat” where people can take a walk in the spring, skate with the kids in winter, sit and enjoy the calm of a sunny day,m or even plan Frisbee with the family dog!” – Chris McCormick, L.L.Bean President and CEO

The Park was dedicated and open to all on July 4, 2007.

Destination Freeport
This is a new volunteer group of lodging property owners and managers who are focused on initiatives that will bring more overnight travelers to Freeport.  A new group has been attracted for February and a new event launched.  This groups works very closely with the Freeport Merchants Association and Freeport Economic Development.

Innovative Economy Initiative
This group is composed of business, arts and cultural, legislative, and governmental representatives who are exploring opportunities to boost economic growth and diversity in Town through partnerships and new alliances.  The group looks at creative and innovative ways to tie business, culture and the arts together.
