The Freeport village downtown area continues to expand it’s offerings with the completion of Freeport Village Station, a $45 million dollar project which includes nearly 120,000 square feet of retail space and a new 500 car parking garage in the center of the famed shopping district. Developed by Berenson Associates, a renowned creator of top quality lifestyle centers internationally, the Freeport Village Station dutifully reflects the charm of a historic coastal New England village, and provides a unique economic opportunity for retailers and restaurateurs.
The ongoing efforts of groups like the Freeport Community Improvement Association, L.L.Bean and other business and property owners continues to enhance green spaces in the village and throughout the town of Freeport. Improvements to West Street Park, Discovery Park (on the L.L.Bean downtown retail campus) Memorial Park (next to the Hilton Garden Inn) and at the gateways of Freeport, along with other locations including the recently built Leon Gorman Park (a gift of L.L.Bean), add to the quality of life in Freeport for resident and visitor alike. This and several significant properties like Audubon’s Mast Landing Sanctuary give Freeport a good economic opportunity in the areas of eco-tourism, and green development.
The formation of the Greater Freeport Chamber of Commerce provides a new resource for Freeport based businesses. The Chamber focuses on business-to-business networking, education, training, group representation and providing member resources. The Chamber will work with other local area chambers, state and regional chamber organizations, the Freeport Merchants Association, and with the FEDC.
In addition to other statistics and reports compiled by FEDC, we now offer a Freeport Occupancy Report, which give interested parties an overview of total available existing space in the key geographic areas of Freeport. This snapshot report is updated quarterly.
